Cobian Reflector • Cobian Reflector "regressions" compared to Cobian Backup

Hi. The following are certainly my biased opinions, but I believe that certain things were handled better in CB than in CR, Both are GREAT and the price can't be beat. :APP

1. I use time stamped backups, and if it happens that the same job has the same directory names as top level directories (say, C:\Users and D:\Users), CB creates separate target directories (as the time that they are being backed up is almost guaranteed to be different), but CR does not. The option is called "Create new separated backups" in CR, has a slightly different name in CB, but it's the same thing. CR now writes to the existing target directory that was created first merging separate directories. In the case of the above example (which is an example and not my particular case), many files from C:\Users subdirectories would have been overwritten with files from D:\Users, as for the standard Windows "factory" user names, the file names are exactly the same. IMHO this is a serious regression.

2. This isn't as serious as the first regression, but I still believe that it should be changed. In the log screen when CB said the backup was done, it was indeed done. Not so with CR. It logs a message that the backup has ended, but it's not done yet. It it needs to delete old backups, it starts doing that then. That's very confusing. It should log a successful completion when it's completely done, including deleting old backups, like CB was doing. Few times I was waiting for CR to finish before rebooting my machine, and when I discovered that new behavior I wasn't sure if I already could reboot, or I needed to wait longer for CR to truly finish.

In the above example CR was busy for over 5 minutes deleting the old backups after logging a completion message. :(
If anything it should log another message like "Now, I'm DONE DONE DONE!".., just kidding, but you get my point here.

While at the things I'd like to change in CR (although not necessarily regressions), here are my 2 cents about the UI.

1. I'd like the program to remember the position of the vertical bar separating the left and right panes. The left one is too narrow for me and changing the window size doesn't make it bigger, nor resizing manually is remembered.
2. The column sizes are not remembered either and the default size for the "Size" column is too narrow. When automatically resizing it to fit (by double-clicking on the vertical bar to its right) there is a regression in CR. In CB it correctly sized the column and nothing else. In CR in addition to sizing the column, if any task is selected also that task properties window is displayed.

To summarize the above UI requests/issues I'd ask that all column sizes are remembered across program restarts as well as the sizes of the left and right panes.

Regards.
