I believe this is the backup software I have been searching for. My first full backup was perfect and I ended up with a "mirror" of the folder(s) that I told it to copy on my backup drive. I really only want an on-demand, file-based (non-encrypted) copy of the files so that I can easily browse and restore one (or more) files when needed.
Now I am trying to set a task that will do the following: copy any new files with the folders and any files that have been updated. I don't want it to remove files that no longer exist on the source. I don't believe the software removes deleted source files which is why I am trying this app.
I created a second task set as differential backup hoping that it would update my earlier one. First time it created a new folder but I see that I failed to uncheck "Create new separated backups". Unselected that and started the task again. A log item reported "Changing the backup type to full. Reason: first backup of the task." I love the logging BTW.
So this wasn't going to make a differential backup I think. Was my mistake not setting differential on my first task? If I set that one to differential now would that work? (I'm going to try it in any case).
Thanks for filling in the blanks in my understanding.
