Hello! I think that for the selection of items would be more easy have an option where you have all folders listed and you check all the folders you want to backup. That will make easier to select inclusions and exclusions. Could coexists with the actual ways of adding files and folders though.
I'm refering to this kind of selection: (Image of google about Synology Drive backup feature).
So you can check all the folders or subfolders that you want to add for a specific task.
