I review many logs on a daily basis and the best recommendation I can make is that we use one of the standards available today.

Another reasonable recommendation would be to keep the log's in plain text, neutral, and, if you decide to add color, do it through a viewer, or through an export to a different format.

I leave a link, in Spanish (my apologies), where very practical information is collected on the different "de facto" standards that are being used for the storage of records.
