I've resolved this issue by working with StorageCraft support. Still, it would be a welcome addition to be able to select the system VSS provider for CR snapshots. One thing, a bug I believe, that I've observed while dealing with VSS provider issue is that CR backups that failed left behind the orphaned target directories that had to be manually deleted. CR must have created the target directories at a very early stage, before taking a snapshot, but then when the error occurred failed to delete those empty target directories.
An unrelated observation about the log tab. CR logs a successful completion of a backup, but then it starts deleting old backup files. The message about the backup completion should IMHO come at the very end, when all backup related activities are completed, including cleanup. This is important as sometimes when I need to reboot my computer and the backup is still running, I wait till it's done. When I reboot immediately after seeing the completion message the old backups won't be deleted as the process will be interrupted. This is how it was done with CB, so I don't know why that has been changed in CR.
